John McMahon, Commissioner of the OPW, opened the new exhibition in Ormond Castle in Carrick-on-Suir.
Ormond Castle is the greatest surviving great Tudor mansion in Ireland. Interpretation on-site includes tour guides, interactive books, newly commissioned Brussels tapestries and two audiovisuals in the style of Elizabethan woodcuts. They highlight the struggle to rule Ireland between three intertwined dynasties;- the Butlers; the Fitzgeralds; and the Tudors.
Site models, interactive books and newly commissioned tapestries bring the story of magnificently restored Ormond Castle to life.
