INISKEEN, MONAGHAN, IRELAND

The Patrick Kavanagh Centre is located in a deconsecrated early 19th Century Roman Catholic church in Iniskeen, County Monaghan, Ireland. It was designed in association with MakeDot to work as a museum, a resource centre, a cinema and cultural event/ theatrical performance space. The largely self-educated Kavanagh came from a humble background. But his unsentimental take on Irish rural life made him one of the best-loved Irish poets of the 20th Century.

The immersive central multimedia experience uses one central, and two flanking projectors, to envelope visitors with a cinematic flying journey that connect them to the raw power of Kavanagh’s work, and the people, places, and landscape that inspired him.
